26th World Wide SketchCrawl — Couple Reads the Philosophy Rug at the Hirshorn Gallery
This is perhaps my favorite exhibit at the Hirshorn, the Philosophy Rug, by Mungo Thompson. It's a fabric covered in large patches with truisms and sayings on them, many of which sound like cheeky bumper stickers. I knew this would be a good spot to find people standing still long enough to sketch them, as they read through the patches. This gentleman initially had his arm around his lady-friend and then put it down mid-way, explaining the "third arm."
